Why Our Fleece Weight Matters

Structure you can feel

Most high-street hoodies sit between 280 and 350gsm — often in cotton-poly blends that soften and pill quickly. Fortuvo’s uniform pieces — hoodie, sweatshirt, and sweatpant — are cut from 100% cotton fleece at 530gsm. That is not marketing fluff; it is a measurable difference in hand, drape, and longevity.

What GSM actually measures

GSM (grams per square metre) is fabric weight. Higher GSM usually means denser yarn packing and a more substantial feel. For fleece, it also signals how much cotton sits between you and the cold.

Why we chose 530gsm

  • Structure: the fleece holds its shape off-body — shoulders stay clean, hems do not collapse after a season
  • Warmth without bulk: dense cotton traps air; you get lounge-level comfort without synthetic loft
  • Honest composition: 100% cotton — no polyester blend hiding cheaper hand-feel
  • Co-ord consistency: hoodie, sweatshirt, and sweatpant share the same weight so your uniform reads as one system

How it feels in practice

530gsm fleece has a structured hand — closer to a dense towel than a thin jersey hoodie. It breaks in, not out. After gentle washing it softens while keeping weight.
